A Word on Judging

We feel that one of the most important aspects of ensuring that all our entrant guests enjoy their concours experience is in knowing what to expect in the judging. There are many approaches that can be taken and it is vital that everyone knows what to expect.

Here at the Audrain Concours d’Elegance we follow a variation on what is often called "French" judging. As the Concours and Motor Week are a celebration of the core attributes of Newport itself, "History, Luxury & Sport", our international team of judges look foremost at how each entry exemplify in their own particular way one or more of those attributes.

Most importantly we will be seeking an emotional connection with the vehicles selected for awards.

Of course originality and condition draw us in to make an emotional connection, but often the history of the car itself and the involvement of its owners can do more to foster that bond and to bring a vehicle into our hearts than a perfect, un-used, brand-new restoration might.

It is our thought that the primary reason for displaying a vehicle at our show is to share it with the public. Allowing people who may have never seen a car or motorcycle like yours or might never otherwise to have that opportunity is our goal.

As such, we all want to share our passion with others as much as we can. All entrant guests have the option of not having their vehicle reviewed for awards- it does not mean that they might be appreciated any less.
