6:00 am - 1:00 pm

The Tour d’Elegance is the scenic drive for all cars that are participating in Audrain’s Newport Concours d’Elegance and will be a spectacle not worth missing. The Claiborne Pell Newport Bridge is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2019 and our Tour will be an integral part of the celebration. The tour begins Saturday morning on the west end of the Newport Bridge in Jamestown with a staged photo on top of the bridge.

The tour then winds through downtown Newport stopping for coffee and photos at Ft. Adams State Park overlooking the harbor and Newport Bridge, continuing with a Scenic drive along historic Ocean Drive and the breathtaking Atlantic Ocean. The tour ends on Bellevue Avenue with all cars parking together on the closed street for the public to view and interact with drivers and owners. Owners and drivers will be treated to a special lunch at the landmark Newport restaurant, LaForge, while the public enjoys the local vendors and food trucks.

*Only registered cars that are competing in the Concours d’Elegance are permitted to participate in the Tour d’Elegance.

An icon of the State of Rhode Island, the Claiborne Pell Bridge is an important gateway to one of the most beautiful, historic cities in America. Built to replace a ferry service, the bridge greatly contributed to a surge in tourism following its opening. Construction began on April 5, 1966 and the bridge officially opened to traffic on June 28, 1969. Owned, operated and maintained by the Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Authority, its overall length is 11,247 feet and the East and West towers rise dramatically 400 feet above Narragansett Bay.
